Management of menstrual disorders

There are a number of management options for menstrual disorders, including medication, surgery, and lifestyle changes. The first step is to determine the type of disorder. If heavy menstruation is the issue, medication may be prescribed. It may be beneficial to have a biopsy of the lining of the uterus, or the doctor may recommend hysteroscopy, a camera that allows her to examine the uterus. A woman who experiences severe menstrual cramps may also benefit from an ultrasound, which provides a picture of the uterus.
